In each specialty, there is a variety of doctors. For example, there may be GP trainees, passing through a specialty for four months. Many Foundation doctors spend four months in a specialty, learning skills that they may use for the rest of their career. Those in core training are intending a career in that specialty or a related one, and higher trainees need to learn specific skills.
Each grade and type of trainee has a different curriculum.
Some are available on the “resources” page. Some are available on the specialty page.
In each Specialty, the College Tutor has taken time to map the curriculum that each trainee needs to the learning opportunities available in the department.
Any trainee may consider part-time training for part of their training. This is arranged through the Deanery. For part-time training, there are three options:
- Working part time in a full time post.
- Supernumerary.
- Slot sharing.
The Deanery arranges and administers this. It can take some time to arrange, so advanced planning is key.
