The Anaesthetics department provides anaesthetic cover for our operating theatres at
Bexhill Hospital, Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH.
The types of surgery
include day surgery, trauma, general surgery, vascular, orthopaedics, obstetrics
and gynaecology, ophthalmology, urology, ear, nose and throat surgery,
maxillo-facial, and dental surgery, including outpatient dental clinics.
It also provides a service to the obstetric (maternity) department, as well as having
consultants who run the critical care units.
Anaesthetics are also given in the endoscopy
units and the radiology departments for MRI and CT scanning.
The consultants within our aneasthetics department also run acute pain and chronic pain
management within our hospitals.
